Texas Hill Country Estate

Nestled in Texas Hill Country an hour and a half west of Austin near Fredericksburg, the heart of Texas wine country is this amazing home, contracted by Laughlin Homes.

Gary Whillock and his teams, formally called Austin Roofing Contractors, provided the roof of Italian Clay Tile, each piece mortared into place (old-world). The mix of 24-gauge dark bronze colored, double-lock standing seem metal roofing brought perfect balance to the architecture of this home.

The Bennett Project

The Bennett Project: Overlooking Austin from the advantage of Mt. Bonnell the owners recently purchase this home knowing it needed a little work to restore the exterior with one of their largest concerns being the issue of a huge attic storage space that was too hot to store anything.

The teams challenge was not only to restore the roof, correct all the roof to wall flashing issues, restore the masonry on the chimneys above the roof, but was to find a way to vent this roof, lowering the temperature closer to ambient temperatures lowering it from the 140s that previously occured during the summer months.

Rough Hollow, Lakeway:

Free from nearly all concerns of hailstorms this home sets in a neighborhood exclusive with new homes at the end of a cul-de-sac overlooking the lake yet the owners are free from concerns of weather protected by a shell of 24-gauge Kynar Coated Steel Roofing with sweeping overhangs to protect the windows and stucco.

The initial plan was metal for the architectural appeal. The end result is a roof that protects this home from the elements and gives it the beauty of a modern-day contemporary home.

Villa on Lake Travis:

Recogninzed by many who have set and watched the sun set over Lake Travis from the Oasis Restaurant.

This was a major roof and flashing restoration including the three copper domes, copper blind-valley, stucco redo to allow for proper roof to wall flashing, masonry modifications and more.

The Marsh project:  Weathering the Storms.

Located in SW Austin, this home has a composition shingle roof that is 50% thicker than most. It is a GAF Timberline Ultra – and it can withstand the storms, outperforming standard Timberline shingles hands down.

It also shows more definition due to this additional thickness.  There are many shingles that are thicker, and also withstand the storms better along with impact resistant roofing available by many of the manufacturers today.

The Rider project:  The look of Raw Metal.

Secluded on an oversize lot in Rollingwood, just accross Mopac and Lady Bird Lake from Downtown Austin sits this custom home truly hidden from view. Built years ago for the current owners it is a sanctuary in the midst of Austin.

The teams worked dilegently to replace the old-style metal roof, with a double-lock galvalume metal roof. The adjoining walls required roof-to-wall flashings and repairs to restore this magnificent display of architecture among the near-forest like surroundings.

Circle C’s First Metal Roof:

This project started by getting approval where none before had been able to in Circle C. It was an immidiate hit in the neighborhood, and by careful selection of color, the assiciation was also pleased with the new appearance of this home’s roof.

There were a number of things done to correct issues with the current roof. A sage was corrected in the front left section. A patio roof on the rear was upgraded to have a low pitch that would allow for a metal roof, along with a newly designed and constructed chimney cricket to accomidate for the pitch change on the patio roof.

Legend Oaks, Austin Texas:

A typical project, an older home with needs more than just new shingles. Reroofing often needs to include issues that are common like the fascia, the chimney built of hardboard siding, painting and new gutters, as was the case with this home.

Due to the tree coverage, dark algae stains are common, so the owners selected Atlas Pinnacle Pristine, the most algae resistant shingle available, backed by 3M’s Scotchgard guarantee.

A slight color change in shingles to add contraste made it the corner house to envy.

Overlook Estates, SW Austin Texas:

Showing this house from the back side, it was a complete restoration, solving many issues from the original construction.

The challenges of poor construction design or lack of design and the lack of practical engineering can come as a great expense to owners. Restorations need to be carefully planned and designed to avoid falling into the same trape, once again.

Our passion is Residential Archecture Engineered for longevity.

San Marcos, Top of the Hill:

An upgrade to stone coated metal roofing would require a complete restoration of the roof to include the siding and flashings, a roof remodel of the pool house roof to better match the architecture of the house.

Not only was the need to do extensive work, but there were the PLANTS. A beautiful collection of plants around the pool and adjacent to the house. It was not easy, and a lot of planning was needed to sustain the beautiful work of nature and hours of prior dedication to that beauty by the owner. It had to be saved – from possible ruin.
